  • Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV): This is the base, and it's a superstar in itself. Unpasteurized, with "the mother," ACV is rich in probiotics and enzymes. It acts as an excellent extractor, drawing out the medicinal properties of the other ingredients, and aids in digestion and nutrient absorption. Its slightly acidic nature also helps to create an environment less hospitable to unwelcome guests in your system.

  • Ginger: Known for its zing and warmth, ginger is a potent anti-inflammatory and a powerful digestive aid. It can help soothe an upset stomach, alleviate nausea, and, importantly for cold season, help clear congestion.

  • 2-4 inches fresh Ginger Root, grated or finely chopped (adjust to your ginger preference)

  • 2-4 inches fresh Horseradish Root, grated or finely chopped (be cautious, this is the main heat!)

  • 1 Lemon, sliced

  • 1 Orange, sliced

  • A generous pinch of Cayenne Pepper (or a two whole Thai Chili's if you're feeling adventurous!)

  • Optional additions for personalization: Turmeric, Rosemary, Thyme, Lime peel, Echinacea root.

  • 2-4 tablespoons Raw Honey, to be added after straining (optional, for taste and extra benefits)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare your ingredients: Chop, grate, and slice all your herbs and roots. The smaller you cut them, the more surface area for the vinegar to extract from.

  2. Layer in a jar: Place all the prepared ingredients into a clean, quart-sized glass jar.

  3. Cover with ACV: Pour the apple cider vinegar over the ingredients, ensuring everything is fully submerged. It's crucial that the herbs are completely covered to prevent spoilage. You may need to weigh them down with a small, clean glass or plastic lid to keep them submerged.

  5. Store and shake: Place the jar in a cool, dark place (like a pantry or cupboard) for at least 2-4 weeks. The longer it sits, the more potent it becomes. Give it a good shake daily to help the infusion process.

  6. Strain: After steeping, place a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth-lined colander over a clean bowl. Pour the mixture through, allowing all the liquid to drain. Squeeze out any remaining liquid from the solids.

  7. Sweeten (optional): Stir in raw honey to taste. Start with a tablespoon or two and add more if desired.

  8. Store: Pour your finished fire cider into clean glass bottles and store in the refrigerator. It will last for several months, if not longer.

How to Use:
